BANSKO MUNICIPALITY

The Municipality of Bansko is situated in Southwestern Bulgaria at one of the most beautiful locations of Pirin Mountain. The town of Bansko is situated at 160 km south from Sofia where is the International Airport. Transfer time from Sofia to Bansko is 2 hours.
Bansko is a major administrative, cultural, and economic center of the Municipality. The area of the municipality is 492.14 sq. km. Bansko has population of 10,000 inhabitants.

With more than 50 km ski runs equipped and support by the best facilities Bansko welcomes more than 450 000 people each year and it managed to combine the latest technological developments of the best ski resort with the authentic atmosphere of a traditional Bulgarian village. It has statue of an unique settlement with a big number of cultural monuments, hills, lakes and rivers and is also a paradise for summer holidays. So unlike the rest of ski resorts or the seacoast resorts, Bansko attracts visitors all-year-round! 

The skiing conditions in Bansko are excellent. The Pirin mountain has a predominantly Alpine character with 2 peaks towering above 2900 m. However, the slopes offer runs and tracks for all types of skiers and will suit both beginners and experts.

The 2 major ski areas are situated above the town, on the northern slopes of the Pirin mountain, approx. 10 km from the town.

Slalom and Giant slalom runs are available. Bansko offers a cross-country track with a total length of 5 km. A 3 km ski run Rollbahn track is situated 2 km far from the town. The ski runs with a total length of 14 km are serviced by 2 lifts and several drags 

 

INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN BANSKO

During the last years, Bansko manage to gain an incredible popularity and became the country's leading resort. It has been approved as top investment destination! More and more funds have been budgeted and released regarding the resort's infrastructure including new lifts and snow making machines. Offering a true alternative to the Alps, this charming little town will impress any skier who appreciates well-groomed slopes with modern infrastructure in breathtakingly beautiful surroundings.

Approximately EUR 40 M have been invested over the last 2 years in Bansko. The winter resort Bansko remains the subject of significant investor interest on behalf of construction companies. The municipality has issued 180 building permits for '05. Around 70% of them are for the construction of holiday villages.
The combined apartment inventory of these developments is expected to reach 6,000 by the end of '06.

Over the next year Bansko municipality will invest over BGN 10 M in the infrastructure of the town. A second cabin lift would be constructed and that over EUR 30 M will be invested in the building of a golf course.
Also the local municipality is planning the construction of an airport near the resort. This project could be postponed but the necessity for an airport is growing. Bansko municipality will be able to accommodate 15 000 tourists by 2010. Smaller resorts nearby are also developing fast.
